I love the green colour but it will make the room very dark, maybe think about doing one wall green and a lighter color on the other walls or split walls colors? , you’ve done a great job with the shutters they will look great if you wax or paint them as long as they are sanded really well, can’t wait to see it develop on your next episodes 👍🏼 would love more frequent lost tower episodes but I know you are a busy family ❤keep doing what your doing love from Derbyshire

My favorite two Scottish ladies living the absolute dream on land that, I swear, is a slice of heaven on earth! Oooooo exposing the beams in the kitchen... Oh yeah! I think that would look amazing. I just can't believe how beautiful the land is where you are. No wonder it is home base for where the tales of the fairies or fair folk come from.😘

Such a beautiful place to be privileged to live, not unlike where I live in Canada. When we renovated our house, we did it room by room and I had to strip every door and every door frame, thick oil based paints, many coats probably lead and under it all it had all been sprayed with some kind of gummy sealer way back in the 1950's....a heat gun was the only way to go when I did the stripping in the 1990's. I also stripped the stairs from the main floor to the upstairs as they too had layers and layers of paint....all worth it in the end...

I am enjoying watching the transformation. A heat gun really is a better choice for the work you did but you will need to sand before you paint again.

If you can find an old slow cooker that plugs into the wall. You can cook the old paint off by cooking the hinges in the slow cooker

Now that would be a real click bait title… “Alex stripping in her bedroom!” Regular followers would know nothing ‘bed’ was going on, but I bet a bunch of “Karens” would comment before watching the video!

I was going to add that they put arsenic in green wallpaper as well and it would leave residue on the wall after removal. So I don’t know what colour your wallpaper was on the back wall that you are going to leave unpainted but, if it was very old green paper I would seal that wall with some paint so you aren’t exposed to any fine arsenic dust residue.

Alex, I noticed there was some dark green paint under the white in the door. You should be careful with that as they used to add arsenic to green paints before the 1900’s. Some green paints still have some toxic chemicals in them though not arsenic anymore depending on the shade.

If you move a lot of what’s in your room it will make it so much easier to renovate. You won’t be tripping over everything and endlessly moving stuff back and forth

That view!! OMG it is absolutely stunning! It would be wild but I would just want a massive wide window there to look out. That is a landscape artists painting right there. You live in such a magical area seems so far removed from the insanity of life.

IHi girls! Love watching your progress Alex! What a tedious process! I’ll give you a hint on your hardware, put it in a crockpot with water in it and “cook” it on low overnight. The paint will just slide right off of your hardware! And if I were you girl ,that wood is so beautiful, I would not paint it! All that work to see the beauty underneath! You would be looking at the same thing the people who built it did! Just a sanding like you said and a coat of something to nourish it, like tung oil. How cozy it would look with your beautiful green walls! You guys take care !

Alex. Why don't you try Electrolosis to strip yout ironware. You can build your own tank and watch how to do it on youtube. The great thing is that it only works on the material that needs to be removed, Rust, Paint etc. It is self regulating and when everything has been removed it stops working, so it doesn't damage your origional iron ware or matelick objects. It's a fascinating process.

I thought it was “stripping in my room”.

A little tip regarding removing old screws that seem impossible is to heat them up - which i think you found out by accident... Heating them up makes them expand which in turn cracks any paint, varnish or pine sap. I really felt for you Alex while stripping that paint - I did an entire staircase for my mum many years ago, banister rails, stairs and all, done with a heat gun as you did. It took me a week just to get the paint off! Then of course there was the rubbing down and varnishing with a matt, clear varnish. Well worth the effort in the end though. Your room is going to look beautiful.

It's too late now, but I've seen people get paint off hardware by boiling in a crock pot or other pot (strictly for this purpose - not for cooking afterwards!). Maybe this will help for future projects. Love your videos ❤
